- Lloyd's of London recently refused to underwrite cellular manufacturers against possible future claims of microwave health damage.
- This year, the American cell phone industry announced that it would provide consumers (inside the packages for certain phones) with the radiation level known as the SAR, which measures how much radiation penetrates the brain. The New York Times reported on July 19, 2000 "the move is seen as protecting manufacturers from the type of legal action which has shaken the tobacco industry."
- Scientists worldwide have conducted studies and presented their findings about the health risks associated with mobile or cellular phone radiation. Disagreements about their findings, the health risks and safety standards has created a global controversy and numerous debates, with frequent comparisons being made to the asbestos, cigarette and saccharin debacles.
- The World Health Organization does not recommend the use of shielding products that claim to absorb radiation.
- Few of the shielding products have been substantiated by scientific research and are not addressing the entire issue of radiation damage.
- The cell phone industry in the United states is unregulated with regards to health and safety ... so the public are on their own!
- Scientific studies investigating potential health hazards from cell phones have only taken place over the last 5 to 7 years.
RISK FOR CHILDREN "If it later emerges that cellular phones cause harm, children may be more vulnerable because their nervous systems are still developing, they have thinner skulls and smaller heads and they would have a longer lifetime of exposure to the radiation." Sir William Stewart ... former chief scientific adviser of the English government in a report to the public.
